Beginning as the 2023 war in Sudan unfolds, this film follows as a poetic journey, following five people from different generations and backgrounds over the course of two years as their lives are uprooted across Sudan, Kenya, and Spain. They navigate the terrain between survival and healing, revealing that anyone can become a refugee overnight. As the meaning of home is redefined, the search for dignity and belonging becomes a shared responsibility as life continues across borders.
At its heart, No Life On Mars is a quiet call to reflect on our shared responsibility toward one another. No one leaves their home willingly; people leave to survive. Displacement and refuge are not distant realities, nor are they the responsibility of governments alone. They belong to all of us. They ask us to see one another, to protect one another, and to respond with compassion. Because before we search for life on Mars, we must learn to value the life that already surrounds us.
